Alecse

Alecse (born Alexandre Jardel-Agrikoliansky) is a French visual artist and the founder of Myretroposter.com, known for his distinctive vintage-inspired travel posters released as limited editions. The son of a renowned architect and painter whose work was praised by Vasarely as “optical surrealism,” Alecse grew up in Paris surrounded by art, before forging his own creative path that blends storytelling, photography, and design.

His unique style combines photography, hand-drawn elements, and digital watercolor to capture the soul of cities, landscapes, and hidden gems from around the world. Each poster is a nostalgic, artistic tribute to a destination—produced on demand in exclusive, limited runs. With over 125 countries already featured, Alecse’s ambition is to create at least one poster for every nation on Earth.

After working as a creative director in event communication, Alecse left Paris for Sri Lanka, where he ran a boutique hotel and began developing his signature poster style. He now lives and works in Sitges, Spain, with his wife Charlotte—also an artist—and their two sons. Together, they opened La Galerie by Myretroposter, a vibrant showroom dedicated to accessible art, travel stories, and the joy of decorating with purpose.

A lifelong traveler, surfer, and lover of design and cultural exploration, Alecse also creates commissioned posters for private clients and companies, staying true to his vision: to make meaningful, timeless art that sparks wanderlust and emotion.

Démarche artistique

My artistic approach is rooted in the belief that every place has a soul—a unique atmosphere that I strive to capture with sensitivity. I draw inspiration from my travels, personal memories, and the visual codes of vintage travel posters to create artworks that tell a story. My process blends photography, hand-drawing, and digital watercolor in a balance of technique and intuition. I deliberately reject hyper-realism: my posters are not sharp like high-definition photos, but gently blurred, much like how we remember places. Our memories don’t retain every detail—they preserve impressions, like a pointillist painting where the mind connects the dots. This soft focus opens space for interpretation and invites the viewer to project their own emotions into the image. Each poster becomes a piece of visual poetry—an intimate, dreamlike evocation of a destination, designed to awaken imagination, stir nostalgia, and inspire travel.
